The success story of a visionary
Remember boat shows? They were full of visionary people... However, among them, only a small handful sometimes get it right. Lex Raas is one of them - he’s been right at least once: as a multihull pioneer on the charter market. He was the inspired initiator of the Moorings - Leopard merger. Better still, he’s on the verge of doubling that number by establishing a new Chinese brand of motor catamarans on the market: Aquila Boats. This is a market that until recently had been considered moribund, and which only Fountaine Pajot hadn’t given up on. We met up with the man who understands sailors sometimes better than they do themselves.

He is one of those rare people who have a perfect understanding - both intuitive and analytical - of the use we make of our boats. With Lex, there are no taboos. He’s ready to break codes or invent a new concept, and we’ll never know if he anticipated or created the demand. If Lex had worked in telephony, he would have invented the iPhone.
