Match: Ventilation
On our liveaboard multihulls, just about every accessory is available, and the levels of comfort often rival those that we are used to ashore. If a stove or a refrigerator are “de rigueur” in all boats over 30 feet, air conditioning is not automatically included on the order form. The alternative of natural ventilation is still very much used, especially aboard smaller craft. On the water, multihulls without air conditioning are still in the majority, but this trend has been reversing over the last ten years. In some areas, such as Florida and even the entire southeastern United States, where the summers are very hot and humid, air conditioning has been in general use for many years. Nevertheless, taking advantage of a little freshness in hotter areas and/or seasons is always welcome!
