The turbine is based on a vertical-axis Savonius design, a technology capable of capturing wind from any direction without requiring any specific orientation. Philéole highlights its silent, vibration-free operation, as well as its compact footprint, making onboard integration easier.
Weighing just 26.5 lbs (12 kg) and measuring 3 ft 3 in (1 meter) in height with a diameter of 17.7 in (45 cm), the “Grain Blanc” starts generating power from as little as 4 knots of wind. The manufacturer claims output of up to 240 W at 12 V under favorable conditions. The unit can be connected to the boat’s electrical system and combined with solar panels via a hybrid regulator.
The Belgian company also emphasizes the use of recycled and recyclable materials in the manufacture of its blades. In 2025, Philéole once again received the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” label, an international certification recognizing solutions that combine environmental performance with economic viability.
