Powercat or yacht? Why, both Captain!

Following on from the successful launch of its M48 last year, Prestige Yachts is building on the powercat concept with its new M8. In this larger size (we’re talking 65 feet here) the French brand is offering high-end features with the undisguised aim of taking on the superyacht world. We were invited to Monfalcone, Italy, where the manufacturing headquarters are based: an opportunity to discover an ultra-modern shipyard and, above all, the new flagship powercat of the M range.

The new Prestige M-Line 8 is very capable of winning you over. Seen from the side, the high deck makes this luxury multihull look like a monohull motoryacht. Prestige Yachts’ DNA is well in evidence.
For a multiyacht that displaces fifty tons laden, the wake remains very discreet. The rudders have been designed asymmetrically to reduce cavitation and vibration to a minimum.
The 540-square foot (50 m²) flybridge has two staircases. The first leads to the aft cockpit, while the second, more unusually, serves first the nacelle and then the lower decks - cabins or the galley if that’s down below.
