A week discovering Kenya’s Lamu Archipelago
Lamu Island, whose capital bears the same name, was classified as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2001. It was for a long time only accessible by boat, as was the surrounding archipelago, including the islands of Shela, Manda and Pate. We recently followed in the wake of those ancient mariners during a weeklong cruise from Watamu, Kenya, less than 90nm south of Lamu.
