‘It’ is the Futura 49, a variable beam catamaran, now in production, which was at La Grande Motte for its premiere. At first sight, although the concept can raise a few questions, nevertheless having a multihull which can go from 4.93 m beam in the marina to almost 8 m under sail has obvious advantages. Another of the Futura’s new features: the accommodation is just on the platform, the floats can’t be fitted out. But the interesting side is the total modular nature of the living area. All that remains is to test the boat at sea…
